(1) Temporary residence for the purpose of study in Slovakia shall be granted by a police department, if there are no reasons for the refusal of the application according law, to a third country national who

a) is a full-time student of a secondary school and as of the day of filing the application for temporary residence he/she is younger than 20 years; in the case of post-secondary courses a) qualification courses b), specialization courses c), or higher vocational studies) he/she is younger than 23 years as of the day of filing the application for temporary residence;

b) is a university student; or

c) is attending a language or preparation course for university studies which is organized by and takes place at a university in the Slovak Republic.

(2) A police department shall grant temporary residence for the purpose of study for the assumed duration of study, but for a period no longer than six years.

 (3) A third country national who was granted temporary residence for the purpose of study by a police department may conduct business activities during temporary residence.

(4) Temporary residence for the purpose of study is not required for stays of less than 90 days from the beginning of the residence in the Slovak Republic, if a third country national fulfils the conditions for residence under a specific regulation46) and fulfilled the obligation as given in the legal act.
