KRAHULE

Would you like to visit the geographical center of Europe? Krahule is a great place to visit both during summer or winter. This mountain village is located in the central part of the Kremnica Mountains. Those who like breathing a fresh air while skiing, will enjoy staying in holiday resort called „STRED EURÓPY“ („The center of Europe“), located in the middle of Krahule in the immediate vicinity of the ski lifts station.

Interesting might be an information, that Krahule is the only place in Slovakia where more than 20 % of the population of German nationality lives there. This village was established during German colonization in 14th century and is also called „Blaufuss“ according to probable founder of it.

In summer you can move 6 km from Krahule to Relax Center Skalka (meaning: „a small rock“) and recharge your batteries in wellness or during having massage (classical, lymphomassage, cosmetic lymphomassage of the face, honey massage). Or, if you want to spend your time doing sports, you can try bowling, squash, fitness, gym, badminton, table tennis, in-line track or to borrow a ferrata set. In Kremnica city you can also find a thermal swimming pool named Katarína („Cathrin“) whith 5 pools. The pools are filled with thermal water, rising 376 meters below the ground. The water temperature is in the range of 25 – 37 degrees Celsius.

From Krahule peak and from wooden observation tower built in 2013 you can experience a wonderful view on Kremnica city and Kremnica mountains. Local people recommend to visit this place by feet, by bicycle or while cross-country skiing in winter. You will be pleased by many marked hiking and biking trails.

Adrenaline experiences and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains (as Big Fatra, Low Tatras, Poľana, Kráľova Hoľa and others) are offered by suspension rope bridge and climbing rope network built in Kremnica.

Once you are in this area, you should not miss the historical monuments. Origin and history of this place is closely related to the occurrence of gold-bearing ores. According to some experts, the oldest mining tunnels and shafts were there already in 8th – 9th century. In 14th century the royal mint was founded and began to mint new valuable currency – silver gros and denars, but also golden florens and ducats. In Museum of coins and medals you can breathe the history of this magic place. Another interesting museum is one of Permanent Exposition of Skiing History in Slovakia, or Mining Museum in the Gallery Andrej. Do not forget to visit historical buildings as Church of St. Catherine, town castle or late gothic town house.

Very close to Krahule, approximately 20 km away, is health resort Turčianske Teplice which offers services and facilities as aquapark, thermal swimming pool, different types of massages and relax in a beautiful city park. As Slovakia is well known for its richness in natural healing springs, this spa also disposes and provides thermal healing mineral water with its desirable effects on locomotive organs diseases, on neurological, urological, gastrointestinal diseases, gynecological, oncological or occupational diseases.
